about this tool
This UX review checklist combines practical usability guidelines from the University of Adelaide’s course-quality framework, aligned to the Quality Standards, the university’s learning and teaching strategy and contemporary learning design. It defines a failure point (0) and a baseline level (1) to ensure essential requirements are met, while levels 2 and 3 highlight opportunities for further enhancement and extension.
Using five core descriptors—clear, contextual, interactive, challenging and personalised—alongside UX best practices such as consistent navigation, meaningful labelling and timely feedback, the tool helps teams evaluate the student experience and pinpoint where targeted improvements will have the greatest impact. A balanced course will often feature scores across the 1–2–3 spectrum, reflecting both foundational compliance and higher-level innovation.
